The Dream of
Debt Free Living
The dream use to
be as simple as owning a home and having the white picket fence
that we all drew as kids. With leaps and bounds of growing
technology, most people are now dreaming of part time jobs and
a little more these days.
Now many are
interested in owning their own company and reaching debt free
living in a short amount of time. Sure, everyone wants to be
rich, work part time job, but this is something more. To be
able to pay the bills down to a zero balance would not only
simplify life, but also create a security in these uncertain
economical times.
Taking the time to
review a few of the household spending habits, setting a plan
and increasing the income is the manner by which to achieve
this new dream, here’s how:
A large percentage
of the typical household’s debt is from high interest credit
cards. Now they may have advertised a low interest rate and for
a credit card it may not seem too bad, but it is.
With the
prevailing global credit crunch, the average family has just
under $10,000 in credit card debt, burying them in minimum
monthly payments. Because they have so many those minimum
payments of $50 add up very quickly, plus the majority of the
payment goes to interest alone.
This is even more
difficult at this time because the cost of everything else has
risen sharply. That drains the savings account and taxes the
already strained budget, so how does this vicious cycle stop?
The answer isn’t simple, nor an overnight success as it takes a
great deal of patience and time.
Because it is
spending habits that built this level of debt they must be the
first reviewed. Keeping track of the outgoing money every month
will help a family determine what they are spending their money
on. Taking the time to separate the needs from the wants can
also help make a plan. This plan must be followed and the
family will likely need to learn the gift of
patience.
We as a society
are a “right now” breed of people. No one wants to save their
money and waits to make that purchase; it is a ‘do or die’
philosophy. This is what gets most people in trouble so
understanding that will help them keep their credit card debt
under control.
Next, the family
must build a plan of increasing their income, here are a few
ideas:
Since the internet
is so popular, how about finding a way to make some money
online. There are so many different areas that just about
anyone can sale a product, write an EBook or help a company
market their products.
It may be as easy
as blogging about something that a person is good at or can
give a bit of advice.
Some have found
this debt free life from finding products to sell online, while
others build an attractive consulting business.
It really does not
matter how a person makes their money, well as long as it is
legal, but the point is there is money online to be
made.
Taking the time to
review the finances, set a plan and engage in some additional
income, be it through part time jobs or through work at home or
through internet marketing, will pave the path to the new found
dream of living a debt free life.
